New Delhi: The Israeli-origin Searcher Remotely Piloted Vehicle of the Indian Navy ditched around 1930 hours nine miles off Southwest port of Kochi.
“It was a controlled ditching in an area with depth of 24 metres. Board of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident,” Indian Navy spokesperson Capt. D. K. Sharma said in a message.
India rushed naval and coast guard ships and a Dornier patrol aircraft each from the two maritime forces and a ‘Dhruv‘ Advanced Light Helicopter to the area where the Searcher RPV ditched.
The ships are carrying divers and specialist equipment on board to the area of the RPV ditching.
